The Georgia Center for Child Advocacy and Funding Crisis
Challenge
The Georgia Center for Child Advocacy (GCCA) supports sexually and physically abused children through prevention, intervention, therapy, and collaboration. With a 61% reduction in federal funding from the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), GCCA sought alternative funding sources. With so many non-profits in Atlanta doing great work, it’s often a challenge to break through and get attention.
Approach
I crafted a press release highlighting the federal funding crisis to draw attention to GCCA's capital campaign and its potential impact on services for children and families in Atlanta and Georgia. Media outreach was conducted to Atlanta outlets.
Coverage Secured
The NBC and ABC affiliates picked up the news and conducted an interview with the CEO. Based on the news coverage, new donors emerged to support GCCA’s work.
